Translated some of the system changes for VF5 to VF5R.
Crouch dash properties changes
Crouch dash(33) will get hit by high attacks such as P in certain number of frames in VF5. Example would be at -6 and you crouch dash, opponent does a standing P. You will get hit by it.
This has been changed in VF5R
After inputting 33, you will evade all high attacks.
BUT this does mean that crouch dash frames have changed. It is still the same as VF5. Only the properties have been changed.
This can be used to your advantage in VF5R. Such as blocking a move that has a high attack follow up(Eg, Lau’s 6PP). Use crouch dash to go under the high follow up to get closer.
This change has also made evade crouch dash cancel go under full circular high kick with ease.
Side guard break
Doing a side guard break will increase the stagger time compared to a front version. Most of the time Guarding a heavy attack after a side guard break is impossible.
This is available in VF5R because of the side guard addition.
Akira’s 6P+K+G > 33P or Lau’s 6P+K+G > 3P+K is mostly impossible to defend against. Goh’s 236P+K will end up at the front. Big attacks will be very difficult to land but 3P will launch your opponent.
Against an opponent who stands and block, you can expect big damage from this. Aim for OM to opponent’s side!
